For me, painting is a way to utilize various color harmonies, surface textures and natural forms to visually engage the viewer. It is also a way for me to develop my own unique artistic voice. I use color to create a feeling of light within my painting.

Through acrylic paint medium, I start with a cubist-inspired breakdown of forms from nature to anchor my colors and subject. This provides me the means to explore a range of possibilities through my choice of brush strokes and color.

My current work is an exploration from natural design and living creatures which delves into the connectedness of the real and the abstract by creating a conversation between color, line, shape and texture. I am inspired by patterns from nature and my own Native American Culture. Within my work I use Native patterns and symbols that are meaningful to me and ground me with traditions and stories.
