Linda Lohr

I work across multiple media, drawn to the unique voice each material offers. Hand-dyed fibers hold a brilliance and saturation rarely matched by other techniques. Metals can be carved, patinated, and adorned with enamel or semi-precious stones, offering both weight and intricacy. Oil paints bring a luminous sheen that evokes timelessness and depth.

What connects all my work is a fascination with complexity—visual, emotional, and material. I aim to build energy into each piece, often through layered texture, tension, and, at times, unexpected harmony.

Before turning to art full-time, I spent much of my career in higher education, researching how technology supports learning. That work sharpened my understanding of visual communication, culminating in two authored textbooks. During a sabbatical, I returned to my creative roots by illustrating a children’s book—a turning point that reignited my studio practice, where writing, illustrating, and making art now converge.

Reach out to Linda.
