This Plague of Mine shows a plague doctor figure revealed as a skull, wearing a blue hoodie over a red and white striped shirt. The colors point to inheritance and culture, especially American ideas of success and survival, what I referred to elsewhere as being born of Old Glory.

Hanging from the mask are pine car fresheners marked with dollar amounts. They reference the idea of covering things up with money, even when it is cheap, temporary, or clearly not a real fix. The figure is not meant to be a villain. It is participating, coping, and justifying.

The painting reflects on greed and ego not as extremes, but as learned habits passed down through systems and culture, often mistaken for progress or protection. .
