Scott Howard
After finishing art school in 1982 I promptly ran away to the circus, literally. I juggled fire for my supper every day and painted pictures at night. That leap shaped everything I create. My art is my life — whether I’m on a stage or in front of a canvas, I’m always building a world of color, emotion, and truth.
I work with bold, intentional palettes that echo the intensity of my experiences: the sharp focus of a wild animal encounter, the quiet pride beneath a clown’s painted smile, the dignity of hard work, the pure joy of a dog greeting their best friend. Every painting is a self‑portrait...I wear my heart on my canvas.
When I guide your gaze across a composition, I’m inviting you into my world. I’m an open book — a road-map begging to be navigated. My paintings are love letters in acrylic, spilled out for anyone willing to look and, inevitably, to judge. That vulnerability is part of the relationship. A painting is a meeting place. I offer myself, and you bring your own story in return.
In show business, “break a leg” means “I hope you get the chance to shine.” I hope my work does that — by providing that something subtle in my colors or lines that helps you break free, feel seen, or feel brave. My respect for my subjects extends to my audience; to you.
That’s why I paint. My art is my life, and every piece is an invitation. Please join me, let’s explore together.
