Photography has always made sense to me. I was just four years old when I asked for, and received, my first camera - a Kodak Brownie - for Christmas. According to my mom, I took pictures of everything, including the patterns in pavement cracks. I still have all of those 3" square photos from the 1960s...AND that camera.

In college, without a car, I went on what I called 'photo safari' walks. I carried a heavy bodied Nikon loaded with
black-and-white film, along with a backpack full of filters and lenses. I chose black-and-white photography because I could develop the film and print enlargements myself in the school darkroom. The first time I saw an image appear in the developer tray I had an adrenaline rush and was hooked!

I love to travel. In September I gave myself a birthday present, a trip to Greece. This photograph was taken at pottery studio outside a small town on the island of Naxos. A popular stop as evidenced by these items attached to an interior wall. .
